Where NorthLight is looking.
NorthLight’s exploration focus spans distinct geological settings. Each is evaluated on its own evidence, with access, infrastructure and potential energy demand considered alongside the subsurface interpretation.
Southwestern Manitoba
A buried-basement exploration thesis.
NorthLight’s Manitoba applications cover two target areas where Precambrian basement lies beneath the sedimentary succession of the Williston Basin. The exploration thesis considers whether basement source rocks, deep structures and migration pathways could support a natural hydrogen system within that setting.
Provincial geological research and historical well information provide a basis for targeting. The work ahead is to establish how the relevant source, migration and retention conditions apply within the application areas.
*Gross application area before exclusions or adjustments. Applications have been submitted; exploration rights have not yet been granted.
Canadian Shield mine opportunities
Subsurface access within operating resource districts.
Mine workings and boreholes can provide access to geological settings that would otherwise require substantial new exploration infrastructure. NorthLight is prioritizing opportunities where that access could support hydrogen assessment near existing energy demand.
The initial work centres on target selection, operator engagement and potential data-sharing and sampling arrangements. Each opportunity must be assessed against its geology, access conditions and operating requirements.
